December 5th, 2016 was the official day of a new holiday at Grants High School: HOPE Day. HOPE Day is a day for celebrating hope and those who have succeeded in overcoming hardships in their lives. Kimberly Candelaria, one of the organizers of HOPE Day said of the day, “HOPE Day is about spreading hope and positive thoughts not only with our school, but also with the community. It is a way to let people know that no matter what you’re going through there is always hope.”

HOPE Day had a great outcome. Over 80 cakes were brought in to celebrate HOPE Day. All of Grants High Schools students and staff participated in HOPE Day. Along with cake, a fountain was set up in the front of the school where anyone could throw spare change to help support a local business or charity.
